Campaign Contributions from Unions

Most unions indeed are good.

Workers need protection from employers who may jerk them around and throw them out without good cause, like Circuit City has done.

I support unions, and even helped try to sign up workers this year to join a union where I work.

The loudest objection to why someone would not sign up was because of the extra piece of the pie that would thereby be taken out of one's check for union dues.

To keep union dues down, there is a connection to how much a union spends. Hence, the large contributions unions make to politicians is directly related to the cost of union dues which could be cheaper if not so much was given out.

I'm not going to be the man who says "give me a big contribution out of your union dues, and I'll return the favor." I'd rather see those union dues go to the family of a disabled or deceased member who just suffered an unexpected fall.

As for the support of union workers...I give it for free.
